May 2008

May the Lord give you His peace!

What an amazing weekend with Pope Benedict in New York. There were many friars and sisters who stalked the Pope, showing up at every place he went! The Pope jokingly commented about this to a personal friend. Some of our friars were able to meet and talk with the Pope. This month I would like to encourage all of you to print the talks which the Pope gave when he was in America. His address to the seminarians and youth was particularly focused on vocations. Great words from our german shepherd...
Texts of all Papal talks in America found here.

Our Fr. Bernard (r of Pope), Fr. Pio (l of Pope) and Fr. Glenn (l of Pope with cell phone coving one eye) greet the Pope during the recessional of the Mass at Yankee Stadium. Fr. Bernard as our Community Servant was able to talk with the Pope outside the Papal Residence one night.

Our Brother Joachim shows his allegiance as awaits the arrival of the Pope at JFK airport.

I will be away on the following dates during May:
• 13-15 Prayer time at the hermitage.
• 15-19 Mass of Thanksgiving of Fr. Francis Mary in Buffalo, NY.

Wisdom quote: "Gathered here at Saint Joseph Seminary, I greet the seminarians present and indeed encourage all seminarians throughout America. I am glad to know that your numbers are increasing! The People of God look to you to be holy priests, on a daily journey of conversion, inspiring in others the desire to enter more deeply into the ecclesial life of believers. I urge you to deepen your friendship with Jesus the Good Shepherd. Talk heart to heart with him. Reject any temptation to ostentation, careerism, or conceit. Strive for a pattern of life truly marked by charity, chastity and humility, in imitation of Christ, the Eternal High Priest, of whom you are to become living icons" Pope Benedict, April 19, 2008.

May the Lord bless you,
