Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,
From
The Hospital:
Sunday April 25, 2004
When I arrived at my new rehab center I found out that I was supposed to be doing a number of things, which had been done for me by others in the past. It was a bit of a jolt. I thought I was doing my best, but they raised the bar far higher, and expected more of poor little Benedict. I had been told that this was a very demanding place, so I wasn't surprised. What came as a big surprise is that the staff made these demands in the kindest and the gentlest way. Behind this I could hear the challenge, "Grow up; get on with it; give it your best try!"
As I go to bed a few nights after arriving I am particularly thankful to God that I came to a demanding place and already I'm doing better. Today I walked 250 feet, less than a month ago I could only walk 3 steps. So if life has put some difficult challenges in front of you, some things that look utterly impossible, get started, pray to our Lord and our Lady for strength, and you will be surprised what you will be able to accomplish or overcome.
Let us continue to pray for each other!
Father Benedict

Dear Fr. Benedict, Sr. Ave Clark, O.P. sends her prayers and best wishes for your complete recovery even as she is recuperating in a rehab center. As you may know, she was hit by a runaway train while driving in Queens last month. She sustained fractures in both wrists and right leg, not to mention a swollen left leg. She was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital after the freak accident and where she underwent three surgeries re her fractures. She has fond memories of both your younger days in Caldwell, NJ. Please pray for her, too. Thank you. Peace,-Hernan, Elmhurst, New York
Amazing Grace! That is what is happening here...Father Benedict is absorbing the great spirit of the therapy department...and passing all those great vibes on to the rest of his followers, here, via the web. Everyone who loves Father is closely tuned in to his emotional affect...we indeed see positive changes going on, and that is an encouragement TO ALL OF US! PRAYER WORKS!-Jackie,New York
Dear Father - Started taking your advice to heart and have had two pro-life/anti-porn letters to editor printed in WASH TIMES. Also was able to get a letter published in our Diocesan paper about our pro-abortion congressman who calls himself 'Catholic'. Score one for you and JESUS! Let's keep praying for one another!- Lynn, Alexandria, Virginia,
I am in a period of darkness and of being in a limbo with my life. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your teachings on Hope aired twice a week here in Portland on KBVM radio. You are such an inspiration to me. I really like your "reality" Christianity and your humility. God bless you and may you continue to improve significantly each day. I will continue to pray. Praise God for what He is doing in all our lives!-Barbara, Beaverton, Oregon
Hi, Fr. Benedict: I hope you're getting to the point where, in your typical German-Irish-New York and undeniably quasi-Jewish manner, you're thinking, "Hey, it could be 'woyse' (worse)." Here's hoping everything gets better and soon!-David, Urbandale, Iowa
Dear Fr Benedict Thank you so much for the daily meditations. It is a wonderful apostalate that you practise. God has blessed us all who read your messages. He has given us all a wonderful gift of being able to join in celebrating your life and your suffering. Did I tell you that one of our 15 grandchildren is named Ben?We pray to St Benedict every night before retiring."Dear St Benedict, please help us to be always good, kind, & thoughtful to all those people we meet each day and may our home always be an open home to those who wish to visit. May they leave behind all their worries, anxieties & fears & may they leave in peace." A favour to ask. One of our daughters (Cathy) & her husband (Graeme,a convert to Catholocism)wish dearly tohave another baby. If you could intercede with a prayer or two for their intentions we would be most grateful. Thank you for this opportunity and may God hold you always, in the palm of his hand.-Anne, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND
Hope you feel better! Your messages are very inspirational. As a 28 year old I have begun once again to rediscover my Catholic roots, my Fiancee is a devout Catholic from a family of 10 and she has really helped my in rediscovering my faith (two of her brothers are Priests). Pray for us and keep writing your messages of hope, love and compassion.-Georges, New York, New York
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I READ THIS PAGE :) AND ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I KNOW TO FR. BENEDICT I CAN SEE HE IS A GOD'S MAN AND A PRAY FOR HIM LIKE HE PRAYS FOR US. CHRIST IS WITH US TODAY AND FOR EVER.-Rocio, Mexicali, BC, MALAYSIA
Father Benedict, I am 15 years old and love watching you on EWTN. You have taught me a lot about Christ and helping those most in need as Jesus would. I pray for you daily to get well so you may continue your work with the poor. Please pray for me! Your friend,-Adam, Oliver Springs, Tenn.
