Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From the Hospital:
Message for Thursday, April 29, 2004

God’s Divine Providence operates in many mysterious ways. In the film The Passion of the Christ we see what God is able to permit — incredible iniquity and cruelty, but out of that, He brought the salvation of the world. The mystery of the Cross is that God saves the world by His divine power. In turning evil into good in our lives, and when confronted by our own moral evil, we ought to do precisely that. We should let the work of grace turn our evil, or less desirable, inclinations to good.

Fr.Benedict,
You can count on me for your new prayer army. I have been in a wheelchair with a spinal cord injury for 11 years. Is there any way we could start a organized prayer group for disabled people, either thru the CFR or Grassroots?
Yours in service to our Lord,-Linda, Blacksburg, South Carolina

Dear Father Benedict,
Lord, have mercy. I enjoyed watching the Good Friday tape, and had the luxury of watching it in one sitting. Of course, I should have taken notes! However,I know that I will be viewing it many times. I loved the reference to Italians and Irish. I am Italian and my husband is Irish; I just howled out loud. I must say, though, that I listened very attentively, and I have taken your message to heart. There is that word again. Listen. Father, I do understand what you mean about the hospital visit. With each of my five children, I had very well meaning visitors, even a singing gorilla. However, in my heart, I just wanted to be quiet and gaze at the new life in my arms. Recovery is not a word we use very often in our quick fix society. But it is a beautiful and purposeful word. I do my prayers in the silence of the first light of the day, and enjoyed the two o'clock feeding the most, just for the quiet. I will pray for your recovery in the quiet that is our relationship with God. Joy is not a quiet emotion and I expect that is what people feel when they see you. God bless you and keep you always.-Charlotte, Chariton, Iowa

We love You Fr. Benedict! Each time we visit the site, my 19 month old screams out your name & you put the biggest smile on her face. Our prayers are with you!-Anna & Elizabeth Ann, Phila, Pennsylvania

CHRIST IS RISEN! CHRISTOS ANESTI! Dear Father Benedict, Our poor prayers are being offered daily for your complete recovery...and in thanksgiving for what He has already done in your holy life! The Risen Lord has MUCH for you yet to do. May He return you SOON to help shepherd the flock of Christ and uplift His people! +Father Archimandrite Gregory & Brotherhood (Greek Orthodox Exarchate of America)-Archimandrite Gregory, Milford, Conn.

Fr. Benedict, I cannot tell you how much inspiration you have given me since I started my journey to Holy Mother Church. Also, your little God-incident in Florida proves that you are truly holy since Jesus is bringing you closer to the cross. Look at what He has already done with the suffering you have offered him! Many people have been more deeply converted. I pray for your speedy recovery and I ask that you would pray for me, my family and especially my brother who is mentally ill. May God continue to bless you and the friars. Your witness is a beautiful message in a time of great confusion.- Michael, Minneapolis, Minesota

Dear Fr. Benedict,
Since your tragic accident the Brothers [Cong. of Christian Bros. (CFC)] of St. Joseph's Residence (Care Center) have been praying & continue to pray for your complete recovery. Through the intercession of Bl. Edmund Ignatius Rice, our Mother Mary, & all the saints, may you be healed.
With gratitude & warm regards,-Bro. Tom Higgins & Confreres, New Rochelle, New York

Dear Father Benedict, my day would not be complete without coming here to read all of the loving posts from everyone who loves you, and loves the Lord and His church!! It came to me that once you are up and about that this wonderful communication could continue as a way of you evangilizing the world!! Just think...you wouldn't have to travel far to keep us focused on what matters most; our life in Christ!! May your right arm continue to heal, and may your spirit be lifted by all of us who love you so much!!!-Barbara, Detroit, Michigan

Dearest Fr. Benedict:
I just happened upon this site and did not know that you had become ill. I don't know the nature of your illness, but rest assured that my prayers as well as the other sisters of our community will pray for you during this time of rest and healing. We are a very small community of Benedictine Sisters in Ann Arbor, MI. We listen to your tapes during table readings or during our private "lexio divina". Please also pray for us Father Benedict. Pray that God will bless us with some good, holy vocations to our community. We are older sisters and not many young ones want to come and live with a bunch of old foggie nuns in habits! *Sigh*!! Also please pray for me, Father Benedict.May Our Blessed Lady continually etch in your heart, the Image of Her Divine Son. -Sister Terese Peter, OSB,

Send your greetings to Fr. Benedict
