Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,
From the Hospital
Message for Monday, May 4, 2004
If you think back of your days in grammar school and high school,
you had favorite subjects, favorite lessons. We often learned a great deal from
that, but we couldn’t just go on things we like to do, on favorite lessons.
It really wouldn’t work. Some of the most important things we learn in
life are not things that we wanted to learn or things we wanted to do.
Having been put through this ordeal, I do want to say that I’ve tried
to rely on the Holy Spirit to teach me the things that I did not want to learn
or never thought of learning—things like patience, acceptance, resignation
to the Divine will, and going on when things are tough. It’s too bad it
took me seventy years and an automobile accident to learn this, but I’m
praying to God that I have learned it well. I hope and pray that you can learn
from me or from painful events in your own life. In every event turn to Christ
and to His mother and offer them your prayers, works, and sufferings everyday.

Dear Father Benedict,
I'm just sitting here reflecting on the fact that checking your daily messages
has become an integral part of my morning. Also thinking of how the very hard
months you've experienced have brought so many people into contact who otherwise
would never have "met". I've learned much from the many beautiful
insights and sentiments expressed by the people whose messages to you are posted.
I saw a couple of your greetings on EWTN and it was wonderful to see you and
hear your voice--you have a truly beautiful voice, you know, and whenever I
read any of your writing (including these daily messages) I always 'hear' them
as if you are speaking. I just wanted to let you know you are still included
in my daily prayers, rosary, and Holy Communions.
Love. - Mary, Jersey City, New Jersey
Father B!
You are doing a great job! Wow--stairs! Thank you so much for your constant
encouragement. Someday I hope you will know all the lives you have touched in
so many ways--spiritual and physical. My kids like to check your message everyday
with a "Mom, I'm going to see how Father B is doing"--you're family.
God Bless you and keep taking those baby steps --which we pray will get to be
a giant's steps. We love you! - Marie, Millersville, Maryland
You are living proof that The Father brings good out of evil. Just reading your message about baby steps in today's mail is so very inspiring and very true. What great teachings are being given from your experience. Praise God!!! - Sandy, Newberry, Florida
Dear Fr Ben, I thank you most sincerely for praying for us all. Modern
tecnology is wonderful but nothing is as great as 'God's tecnology' Its 'fast
and He understands & overlooks any mistakes we may make! My good wonderful
understanding husband believes I spend too much time on the computer. It is
a new toy for me in my old age(!) and quite a challenge!!
I suffer quite a bit from anxiety disorder which makes many things (especially
myself!!??)very difficult to cope with so knowing that you are praying for me
is such a great comfort.
Love & prayers
Anne PS We will continue to keep you in our prayers, even if I do not send any
more emails but I will be watching your website. - Anne, New Zealand
Dear Father, I saw you on EWTN this AM. What a blessing to see you. I am still praying for you and wondering about the blessings that will come from your accident. I don't think I will ever get over reading the emails from around the world. Can we even imagine the power of all those prayers? Father, you should have wings from all these prayers. It was so powerful to see all the people who love and respect you as much as I do. I realized one of your gifts when you speak. It is as though you are speaking only to me. Please get well real soon. We love you and Miss you. - Lynne, Glenolden, Pennslyvania
Dear Fr. Benedict, I will be praying for you to recover completely.
You have inspired me so much and you have given me a greater love for Our Lord,
Jesus. I have enjoyed hearing you preach and teach so well on EWTN. Your words
of wisdom are so clearly understood by us who watch you on television. You have
taught me and others so much about God through your holy and anointed words
of wisdom. I am praying that God will send you much comfort, strength, consolation
and His peace which surpasses all understanding. May God bless you during this
time of trial and May He always bless you. Thank you for all you've done to
inspire and increase my Faith!
Love & Prayers, - Bonny, Spring, Texas
Dear Fr.Groeschel I will keep you in my rosary intentions for your full recovery and continued service to God and our beautiful Catholic faith. Your talks are simply stated but very insightful and have helped me to see things from a different perspective. May God give you strength and endurance to complete your rehab. Hurry & get well!!! - Rita, Sebastian, Florida
Dearest Father, I watched your talk on St Joseph today on EWTN. It greatly increased my awareness of the importance of such devotion, which admittedly, I had been lacking. It is awesome that you have continued to teach us not only through the trials of your ordeal but through your splendid body of work that exists. Thank you, you are a treasure of our Church. I have followed the web site since day 1, the scary days, and now anticipate your message each morning. I know your days are still difficult, just know we are out here trying to do a little for you, for all you've done for us. Your child in Christ. - Bob, Bowie, Maryland
I would like to let you know my baby sister had twins on last Tuesday. Dillon Patrick and Elizabeth Nancy are the twentieth and twentyfirst grandchildren of my father. I am faithful and know mom is smiling down on us. Also Dillon and Elizabeth are the thirtyfourth and fifth greatgrandchid for my Nana. Not bad considering she was pregnant only once. One egg, identicle twins and a whole lot of love. Allelluia. I am so happy to hear you are walking. I pray every day, but thank God I have you to teach me how to pray.Thank you again. - Patrick, Riverside, Conneticut
