Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

Recently I had the opportunity to look at the early website messages that Fr. Glenn put on the Franciscan website after I had the accident. It was kind of a startling revelation to me just how terribly wounded I was. I read that there were days when they didn’t know whether I would make it because of one complication or another. The doctors warned that I was old and had a bad heart, and that was against me, and yet here I am. I think the message we all must learn from this is that when God calls, you go; if He does not call you, you remain. In many ways the statement is true that I should be dead. Some people, even physicians, call it a miracle that I’m alive. But God has something else for me to do, and I only ask you to pray that whatever it is, I will do it well for His kingdom and for the glory of Christ.

Let us continue to pray for each other!

I know how glad you must be to be home again. Now, you can really rest and regain your strength. Having been hospitalized many times in my life, I know how much quicker I feel better when I'm sleeping in my own bed. One can truly rest. It has become obvious to me over these past months since your accident how God uses suffering to help save souls. It is just amazing how many people from all over the world have responded to you.
