Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,
From
Trinity Retreat
Friday, May 28, 2004
Having narrowly escaped death in three distinct medical situations,
all related to the accident, in which the doctors had practically given up hope,
I can say something that I think everyone needs to think about. All of a sudden
it dawns on me that God wants me to be here. I never thought much about that
before, but I have to think about it now because otherwise I’d be in my
grave.
People tell me that God sent me back because I had something to do for Him.
But we all have something to do for Him. You and I exist out of an immense number
of potential beings who might have been created, but who were not, so that God
could be glorified and that we could do His will. You have something to do,
which has never been given to anyone else, you may not know what it is in this
world, but you will find out what it is in the next. The way to do the best
is to try to follow God’s commandments to live faithfully by the message
of the Gospel, to carry the cross and to trust that when your work is done He
will call you home to His heavenly kingdom. That is our great hope. I do not
understand how people can go through life without that hope.
Let us continue to pray for each other!
Father Benedict

Thank you so much for your update on Father Benedict.
Since we left Kuwait a little more than a month ago (now in Auckland, New Zealand)
we have lost track of our EWTN family and just this morning I asked a friend
in Kuwait about Father Benedict.
Please convey our warm wishes and prayers to him- God bless him plenty. - Alwin
and Mira,
Dear Fr. Benedict: How great that the internet has become your pulpit! We continue to pray for your renewed strength. Keep on keeping on, as they say in England. - Madeleine, Ridgewood, New Jersey Dear Father,
I am a housewife from Singapore and am very thankful to Father Groeschel for his ministry through the internet. I am a daily visitor of the internet. I just love Mother Angelica. So happy to see Father Groeschel speaking yesterday. He looks so well but very much thinner. Convey my love and prayers for him. God Bless, - Magdalene,
We are so happy for you that you are back home at Trinity! Our family continues to keep you in our prayers and is forever thankful for His gift of you to us all. God bless you and thank you for looking out for us all with your many gifts of widsom, and words of faith and hope. WE love you.. From all of us here at the Quintano household and St. Anthony's Free Medical Clinic.- Shelley, Scarsdale, New York
Many thanks for the email. Fr. Benedict is a spiritual Father to many of us. I would rather miss my vitamins than to miss the spiritual food for thought that Father Benedict gives us. I am very thankful and appreciative for the Franciscan Friars web site and all those who maintain it. The more we know about Fr. Benedict and how he is doing, the more we are able to place him deaply into our prayers. Once again many thanks for the email...all you do for the Franciscan Family...and lastly the web site. God bless, - Mary, Dear Fr. Joseph Campo,
I drive my wheelchair to the computer daily to check on Fr. Benedict. His meditations and reflections serve to "jump-start" my prayer time. I prayed, too, for all the Friars; sometimes it is harder on those who watch helplessly as a loved one suffers but we all share in the JOY of the recovery. Be assured of continued prayers.- Helen, Milwaukee
I was overjoyed to see the video of you today which showed your recovery. I pray the Blessed Mother will continue to touch and bring you back to ever greater health. God Bless You dear Father Groeschel. - Rodney, Knoxville, Tennessee
The people of the Church of our Saviour in New York City keep our friend and father Benedict Groeschel in our prayers. - Father George,
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Please tell Fr. B.. I just purchased Quiet Moments.....Boy oh Boy, do I need
quiet moments. - Anna Marie,
Father Benedict, It is wonderful to see and hear your passion for the Lord. Our prayers have been answered. Your voice must continue to spread the word. Love, - Donna, Wantagh, New York
So happy to hear that Fr Benedict is back at Trinity. Please tell him
that he needs to eat some of Velma's lasagna to put on some weight. Wow, is
he thin! What a great opportunity to eat whatever he wants! Our friendship goes
back many, many years, to Brentwood, L.I., and Fr Benedict knew my husband,
Don, well. Thank you Father.. Love in Christ to the whole bevy of CFR monks.
