Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From Trinity Retreat
Tuesday, June 1, 2004
When I returned back to Trinity Retreat I found a huge basket of get well cards
and Mass cards, which had been sent to me by friends. Also there were a number
of articles from the Catholic Press, which were very complimentary to me. I
guess they felt sorry for me. I said to someone just the other day looking at
all these wonderful cards, that I’ve sort of enjoyed my own funeral. Most
people only get nice things said about them after they’re dead and then
everybody sends the cards. Somehow or other I got it backwards I’m getting
all the cards while I’m alive. I expect my funeral whenever it occurs
to be very poorly attended because my friends will feel that they’ve been
to my funeral already. Seriously, how can I ever thank the literally thousands
of people who prayed for me and had Masses offered for me and prayed for me
in the prayers of many different religious denominations that I would recover?
What can I do but say thank you and try to live whatever few years are left
to me in the complete service of God. One thing I have learned as I made my
way from hospital to hospital, is that the vast majority of people want to help
others and want to do so in a kindly way.
Let us continue to pray for each other!
Father Benedict

My name is Alice and I am a freshman in High school, and I have along with my mother constantly checked up on Fr. Groshell. I hope he gets well as soon as he can. With all my heart I pray for his full recovery. Thanks for your time - Alice,
Please assure Father Groeschel that I have been and will
continue to keep him in my daily prayers, especially while offering the Holy
Sacrifice of the Mass. His examples of manly piety and sound orthodoxy along
with those of Father Bob Levis are what led me and helped me to persevere in
the seminary and in the priesthood. If there is EVERY anything I can do for
Father Benedict, please do not hesitate to ask for I will try my utmost best
to be of assistance to him. I was just with Mother Angelica and she pledged
her continued prayers for Father Benedict as she herself battles the aftermath
of her major stroke.
God bless you and Mary keep you Father - John Trigilio,
Dear Father - you are one amazing man. I don't feel the church should change I think it is "US" that needs to change. We need to embrace the teachings of the church and go back to living the way we were taught as kids. I hope you continue to heal and keep telling us "Like it is" not like we want it to be. I continue to pray for your recovery and I'm glad you are now home with your brothers. May God hold you in the palm of his hand. Yours in Christ - Barb, in Penn.

Buenos dias Fr. Groeschel: I am so happy for you now that
finally you are home! Since your accident I have been coming to the computer
every day just to know about you. You are so dear to me. Through retreats, conferences,
books and tapes you have been for more than 28 years my spiritual guide. You
have brought so much faith, hope and consolation to me at times when life has
not been easy. I have written you several messages in the past but I don't know
if you ever got to read any of them. There are thousands of messages in your
data base!
It's so consoling now to come every morning to the internet and found a message
from you. God has been so merciful in allowing you to remain with us. Your message
of today is very inspiring. It tells us about the power of prayer in our most
needed times. May our Lord Jesus Christ keep blessing you with his love. Love
you very much too. - Maria, Raleigh, North Carolina
Father Ben, You have been a magnificent role model for
all of us twelve step people in the world. Without your extraordinary writings,
love, care, concern, compassion, many of us would not have remained in recovery!
God Bless You Always,
- Frank, Carmichael, California
Dear Father Benedict, The day of your tragic accident was my birthday and I can think of no more blessed gift from God, to us all, than this blessed news of your continued recovery. My family and I pray for you every day and ask God to bless you, as you have blessed so many others. And we feel strangely certain that your safe passage back to Trinity Retreat was somehow "helped along" by the prayers of your former Travel Agent, our wonderful Mother, Dilly Sullivan. Warmest love to you, - Sheila, Bedminster, New Jersey
