Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,
From
Trinity Retreat Monday, June 7, 2004
In my observations on visiting the sick, I would like to mention the importance
of patience. Very rarely do people become openly impatient with sick people,
it would be like throwing apple pie at your mother. But, people do become impatient
and they don’t go back to visit the sick person. This is particularly
true of relatives. One can tell visiting the elderly and the sick that a lot
of people are not taking their moral responsibility to visit their sick loved
ones very seriously. This is a sign of a worldly society, it should not be the
sign of a worldly relative. St. Augustine used to say the only thing he really
feared was Jesus passing by. He could also have added passing Jesus by.
Let us continue to pray for each other!

I came into the Catholic Church 3 years ago because of you. Now you
are my father. Thank God you are still here. I imagine you still suffer from
your accident. Maybe you cannot "do" so much now. Just please know
that you are "doing" by just "being" here with us. Thank
you. - Kathy, Leander, TX
Dear Father Benedict,
The rosary with Mother Angelica and her nuns on EWTN has been a rountine that
has sustained me since your accident. When I began the rosary with Mother it
was more of a discipline, but now I look forward to saying the rosary with the
Poor Clare Nuns. There is something about kneeling down with Mother Angalica
that calms my mind and heart. Thank you for beginning my day with your meditations
and videos. I grow with your words and experiences in my spiritual journey.
Cas, Bigfork, Montana
Dear Father Benedict,
You have been a great inspiration to me and so many other people, Thank You
for being an excellent tool in the Hands of The Lord. The Polish community and
I are praying for You...hope to see you someday! Marg, Clifton, Pennslyvania
My 22 month old daughter saw you today on EWTN, pointed, and said her version of "Jesus." I told her that you are Father Benedict, but was pleased that she saw the reflection of Jesus in you. Best wishes on your recovery. - Will, Falls Church, Virginia
Dear Father Groeschel, I am a regular on your website. If there is
a west coast ball game, I check later in the evening. When I check in the AM
it is like the morning offering, listening to your beautiful message. I want
to praise your book, Rosary Chain of Hope, that you mentioned in today’s
message. I bought it for Lent and I love your reflections on the mysteries as
well as the art. You are a truly great preacher. I have a friend in NJ who is
a bit discouraged, and I am sending her the Rosary of Light CD by Father Apostoli
to borrow. The rosary is a prayer that strengthens. Your order has done a lot
to promote the Rosary, and you should be proud.
I hope you’re progressing well in your therapy and will be back home soon.
Sincerely, - Mary Ellen, Bangor, Maine
God bless you, Father, and may you continue in your recovery. My heart breaks whem I hear your voice or read your words, for your soul and Our Lord's Word radiates through them. You are healing, hope and comfort to so many and at this time, most especially to me,facing much loss and pain. When I think I cannot "fight the good fight" another day and sink into despair, your words and example, remind me that God is always with us, even in the most difficult of times.I thank God for making you a gift to Him and to us. Love you, Father. - Susan, Cheshire, Cinncinati
Dear Father Benedict, Yesterday you mentioned how you can't quite understand
how your accident has affected so many people. Today I came on to the web site
and, after listening to the wonderful music on the home page, I took the time
to read all the emails sent to you. Then it dawned on me. This is like a giant
prayer meeting, or revival tent meeting. You happen to be the "tent"
where Jesus is calling us all together. And through your "bad thing",
all this good is coming forth! God doesn't just keep bad things from becoming
worse.... but He makes all things GOOD! I felt a rush of excitement this morning
reading the Spirit-inspired words and listening to the Spirit-filled music this
morning! ALLELUIA!
I continue to pray for you and ask that you remember me on the 21st as I go
into surgery. Life throws out some funny things and, Praise God, He supplies
my catcher's mitt! - Janet, East Haddam, Cinnicinati
Fr. Benedict, I praise God that you are recovering. I
follow your progress every day on the internet. I am so eager to hear your words
once again. You are, without question, a true disciple of our Blessed Lord Jesus
Christ. I am a covert to Catholicism and you, dear Father, have had a tremendous
impact on my life and my faith. May Almighty God continue to bless you and bring
you to a speedy and complete recovery. - Moran, Canada
