Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From Trinity Retreat

Saturday, June 26, 2004

Of all the work we are trying to do for the poor, the closest to my heart, of course, is the work that the friars, who are my own family, are doing. We began with the Padre Pio Shelter in the Bronx just a few months after our community was established in 1987, and now we have moved on to the St. Anthony Residence next door, which has sixty-five permanent guests, each of whom has a small room.
The Padre Pio Shelter continues to take care of nineteen homeless men every night. The friars also run St. Juan Diego Center, in Yonkers, New York, which was opened for working men from other countries. These are marvelous good works, which you can learn all about on this website. They will give you some idea of the things closest to my heart, which God has given us as His greatest blessings.

Let us continue to pray for each other!

Father Benedict

Hi Father Groeschel, its me again, boy did you hit on a subject it seems everyone wants to put under the rug. I for one will surely visit this web site. God bless those young woman for having the courage to keep their babies and not having an abortion. I have a sticker on the back of my car, it states, YOU CAN'T BE BOTH CHRISTIAN AND PRO CHOICE and the other one is ITS A BABY NOT A CHOICE. God love you and Chris for this most wonderful deed your doing. Abotion is like crucifying Christ all over again. God bless all of you. - Mary, Millwaukee, Wisconsin

Our dear Father Ben! You mentioned today that you have been behaving nicely...well I say it is time for a change! God knows what you have done for those souls who need the help the most, and I propose that everyone here, at this Benedict Family Website, donate a dollar, (just as a start) to the Good Counsel Homes. It is a great challenge to everyone, around the world...just kindly add the address to your next message, and let us all contribute. Please take this seriously...I am sure there are many of us out here to answer the call. Now, try and behave and get that address out to us! - Jackie, New York

Dear Fr. Benedict, I am so happy that you are doing much better and slowly getting back on your feet. However, I would like to see more ways of seeing the good work that the sisters and friars are doing on a daily basis. Maybe you could have one of the friars interview the some of the people whom you help out everyday. I think it would be good for the community to see more of the good works of mercy that you do. I know I would like to see how and what the community is doing. Maybe interview the different friars and sisters and how they came to religious life. Or interview the new incoming class for both the friars and sisters. This is just a suggestion , Gods speed... Peace ... - Thomas, South Boston, Mass.

What a blessing to see your amazing recovery! I look forward to reading your daily messages and especially seeing you on the video. Please continue the daily messages and the video from you or your other religious brothers and priests. It is the next best thing to having a personal spiritual director. May God preserve you wonderful sense of humor that compliments your great spirituality. - Madeleine, Sparta, New Jersey

This site is wonderful. I wish someone could teach us how to follow and say the divine office. I have the book but have trouble following it. I love this site. - Judith, Kent, Ohio

Dear Father Benedict, many blessings and greetings. Hope to get some good news from you. - Errol, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

What you said in your latest video sounded GREAT - Different themes, daily, from different priests, brothers, and Mr. Campo, as long as you teach us also. Thanks for the "snail mail" address also. Will coninue to pray for GOD's Will in all this - hang in there Father B. JESUS DID!!! Little me from Iowa. - Des Moines, Iowa

Dear Fr. Benedict, Each morning, after prayers, I "feast" on your message and the notes of others to you. You will never know how your words touch and encourage me. I am caregiver for my husband, who is dying of emphysema, and have responsibility for my 92 yr.old father. This is a "dry" time of year for weekday Masses, as I live rurally. It is a long stretch between Sundays to receive the Eucharist. Please continue your messages. They are life-giving! My prayer is that you will be completely healed, if it is God's Will. - Elizabeth, South Dakota
