Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From Trinity Retreat

Friday, July 2, 2004

Sometimes when we ask for God’s blessing and strength, He does not give them to us and we wonder why. I suspect that we often ask for things which, however good they may seem to us, would not, in the final plan of our life, be spiritually good either for us or others.
This says a great deal. Those without faith would be inclined to laugh at or mock such an idea because at times people have had to put up with terrible and horrific setbacks and crosses in life. I am convinced that if you ask for something that cannot be given to you by Divine Providence, you will get something better, something to take its place.
Our Lord says, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find.” He does not say to ask and you will receive what you ask for, or seek and you will find what you are looking for. He tells us to really trust Him. That is the meaning of the words, “Thy will be done.”

Let us continue to pray for each other!

Father Benedict

Dear Father; another prayer has been heard and granted! I have been hoping with all of my heart that you would soon feel strong enough to do just what you have announced you are doing, and that is returning to the airwaves, and so soon! You are, no doubt, feeling less energized than before, but, a slow beginning is far better than none when it comes to how long it's been without hearing your words of wisdom. There will be that much more for us to receive now that you have the past 5 months' experiences to share and relate to. We are suffering out here, for various reasons, and need your tangible, loving words, so rooted in the gospel, and the love of Christ. It's time for a celebration!! Keep looking up. He's smiling. - Juanita, Montgomery, Alabama

Dear Fr. Benedict, I thank God so very often that you are still here with us allowing us to write to you, and stay in touch with all of the Friars. Father, YOU RE-CONVERTED ME BACK TO MY BIRTH ROOTS OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM ON THE VERY FIRST DAY I SAW A PROGRAM OF YOURS ON EWTN! I must have ordered at least 20 of your videos, several of your books, and I study from them over and over. I always track down your shows and never miss one because EWTN is now permanently set on my TV. Bless this website, because it has kept me in touch with the one man whom I can honestly say I would want to be around, observe and learn from every single day. (Maybe it's because you remind me of my "Opa" (German, for grandfather...he was from Newark, NJ!) as you look so much like him. I feel I know you heart-to-heart! I am just so very grateful regarding your progress. I cried for days until we heard the news that you would definitely be 'staying with us.' For someone I have never met before, I want you to know just how incredibly deeply you have CHANGED, TOUCHED, IMPROVED AND GLORIFIED MY LIFE IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, OUR GOD. I hope these messages become a permanent part of the website. Your Friars have kept us updated on your intense ordeal, and for that I thank them all from bottom of my heart. The continuation of this website clearly has become a creative decision and journey between you and the Spirit, Who so richly moves us in unforeseen ways! Although some of your physical strength may be weakened, you're sharp as a tack and ready for more specials on EWTN and/or this website!! May His healing graces and blessings shower over you, Fr. Groeschel, now and always!! God Bless you and God Bless all of the Friars who stand so proudly by your side! Amen! Linda - Boca, Florida
