Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From Trinity Retreat

Monday July 5, 2004

When I mentioned on the website the new hospital that we opened in Honduras I received a number of e-mails asking me to tell people how they could get in touch with the hospital. I’m delighted to do so. The medical doctors from the United States who go down to Honduras go through Light of the World Ministries, a Catholic organization in Florida. The e-mail address for Light of the World is info@lightoftheworldcharities.com. Doctors and nurses who are interested in doing two weeks or a month of service with the poor in Honduras should directly contact Light of the World. If you are interested in helping the hospital you can always write to me or to the Honduras Mission at 15 Trinity Plaza, Yonkers, NY 10701.
People have also written to me about hospital equipment that they may have. I would suggest that they directly contact Marcella Alfaro at Centro Medico San Benito Jose, Apartado 234, Comayagua, Honduras, Central America and the e-mail address is sanbenitojose@catholicexchange.com. Anything you can do to help this wonderful work will be a direct work of charity.

Let us continue to pray for each other!

Father Benedict

Father Benedict: Your "accident" has been an education for all of us. We have always heard to trust in the Lord, but now we are seeing it in action. I pray that He will reward you for your sacrifices and instruction to the rest of us. - Eugene, Vandergrift, Penn.

I was so impressed with the determination of Fr. Benedict when I saw him in the retreat house. God bless you Father and we from the Adorno Fathers seminarian shall never forget the advice you have given to us on our way out, "put your hands on the plow and never look back" indeed we are inspired and more determined to live the gospel. God bless and we will continue praying for you. sincerely yours. - Br. Ted, Ramsey, New Jersey

Dearest Fr. Benedict, As I read your update this morning, my thoughts (to be brutally honest) were "he doesn't need me anymore". The good thing about this site was that those of us for whatever reason cannot be involved with the outside world have a little place that recognizes us. Now with every passing day, the site becomes an extension of the original site, with the "outside world" slowly taking over! Praying is what I can do. Nothing else. Sorry to be so blunt, but my " non contact with the outside world allows me to do that. However, I say, "carry on". . .love, - Marie, Wilton, Maine

I continue include you when I say the rosary. May God continue to heal you. It is uplifting to read the emails from the beautiful people of God who come to this website. May it continue to inspire us to radiate Christ's love for us to those people in our lives. - Nannette, Aiken, South Carolina

Dear Fr. Groeschel, Hello. From the bottom of our hearts and with profound reverence, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY as well as THE LORD'S HIGHEST & MOST ABUNDANT MERCIES, GRACES AND HEALING LOVE THROUGH THE INTERCESSION OF MOTHER MARY, BE IN AND WITH YOU AS YOU UNDERGO THESE NEXT TWO SURGERIES, we pray on our knees, - Larry, Chicago, Illinois

Dear Father Benedict, It is always a joy when I witness God's miracles and I have especially enjoyed watching the miracle of your healing. I have been coming to this site once a day since your accident. You and the Friars have become a part of my spiritual family. I was delighted to read your words about the Bruderhauf Community, since I was privileged to visit that community about 25 years ago. Some members of our prayer group were meeting on a regular basis with the idea of forming a faith community that would live together. To that end we visited many communities in CT and MA and the Bruderhauf community in CT. I was so impressed with the love and joy they exhibited toward each other and toward us as visitors. I was most impressed when we visited the children's classrooms. Everything in those rooms celebrated each of the children as special and unique persons and gifts to the community and to each other. It was a remarkable experience and one I have never forgotten.

I'm so happy that you have decided to keep this web page going. Anything you decide to do will be a blessing for all of us "wannabe Franciscans". I am mostly homebound and have several serious medical problems, so I understand the challenge you had while recuperating. I don't like being gushed over either. I am so blessed by God with gifts of faith and joy and love. I have wonderful spiritual friends who support and love me so God has taught me not to waste time crying over what I can't do so that I won't miss all the special things I can do and enjoy. Thanks for listening. God bless each of you and your work. - Lois, Conn.
