Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,
From
Trinity Retreat
Monday July 19, 2004
Since the 1940s, movies have included selections that may be pornographic,
scandalous, or antireligious. As the years went on, this became more and more
obvious. Even though ratings are given to most movies, the ratings themselves
do not cause the films to be any better.
Consequently, it is very important for families and parents to have a control
over the movies that the younger members of the family see. Adults also need
to be circumspect in what motion pictures they go to. If a motion picture represents
something scandalous or pornographic, they should question whether they are
willing to take responsibility for the spiritual well-being of those who allowed
themselves to be abused as actors in these dramas. Everybody who appears in
a film is a human being. They all had mothers and fathers, and they will all
go to the Day of Judgment. It is well known that a good deal of the pornographic
film industry is linked to the drug industry. The very things that people watch
may be the result of a film director paying off young actors and actresses in
narcotics. It is best not to have others take the downward step and be lost
in life.
The recent spectacular success of The Passion of the Christ shows that good
films can be both appreciated and successful. Why do they force on the public
films that are antireligious and contrary to good morality?
Let us continue to pray for each other!
Father Benedict

Father Benedict, I think it is a good idea you have about the web site having different Father's/Authors each day. I thank God for your continued recovery! Take care, - Robert, Westbury, New York
Dear Fr. Glen, Thank you for taping the video. Thank you for the prayer.
Thank you for being there.
Fr. Benedict, thank you for all the wise counsel. I know that is the gift of
the Holy Spirit. Thank you for being a wonderful teacher and disciple. Please
pray for me, especially to the Mother of God, whom I am trying to draw closer
too. I can use the help. You are all a wonderful inspiration. I love you. -
James from St. Luke's, whitestone, New York
A helpful suggestion for our Father Ben ..Please choose some favorite paragraphs, or prayers, from your many books, and have them copied by the good people at Grassroots ...Whenever you need a day for retreat, or quiet contemplation, you may take one of the paragraphs, or prayers, and send it along to the web site , as the daily message. That gives everyone the opportunity to" share the spiritual journey" that is available to them, through the many publications, of Father Benedict. - Jacqueline, Batavia, New York
Dear Father Benedict, Lord, have mercy. Many of us have written to you expressing the gratitude we have for your series and talks about our faith. I believe we are drawn to you because you speak the Truth. A baby, when it is born, will turn its head toward the mother, (and other family members as well), because it knows her voice. This was a joyful experience with each of my children. I hear Jesus when you speak, and I can put everything aside to listen. I know His voice but can't explain why I do, or how, except that, as you have taught us, He is the Truth. With everything else that I do, I am multi-tasked. However, when you speak, I do nothing else. It is a beautiful experience to hear the Truth, and not have to "read" between the lines, or wonder if I am being fooled. I know that I cannot thank you enough. I continue to pray for your recovery. May God bless and keep you.- Charlotte, Chariton, Iowa
Dear Fr. Benedict, I am very glad that you are mostly better. I hope you do good on your surgeries. I will still pray for you. God bless! - Andrew, (age 10) Lakewood, California
I seem to remember hearing that Padre Pio once commented that the Devil was in the box, referring to TV, when someone first told him about it (TV). What would he say about the internet? In prayer, - Larry, Columbia, Ohio
May God Bless you with continued recovery to good health. Thank you for letting God work through you. - Martin, Carmel, New York
Dear Fr. Groeschel, so many people read your messages daily. So many people respect you and listen to what you have to say. So many people read your books and look forward to seeing you on EWTN, please continue to use this to remind people of proper reverence in church, posture in receiving the Holy Eucharist, proper attire etc. As a DRE in our small parish I often feel that I am working against the popular norm and am looked at as crazy. Please continue in your efforts to awaken fellow Catholics that they are visiting God's House. God bless you with healing and good health. Thank you for your ministry. - Carole, Brookfield, Conn.
