One of the most important times to believe is when there is an apparent failure on the part of those who we think were sent to us by God. This would include some members of the clergy. Their failure doesn’t mean that they weren’t sent. Perhaps the most obvious example of this was the recent film on the Passion of Christ. Was there ever a greater failure than Christ? When you look at the battered face of Our Lord and consider the terrible torture that he endured for our sins your faith could be shattered. You could easily ask could this be the Son of God? If you kneel down before the crucifix and you pray for an increase of faith like the apostles, “Lord increase our faith” then you will find that misfortune, adversity and even total failure can teach a person that ultimately true success is to be only recognized by the eyes of God. God and His truth is the foundation of our faith not what human beings accomplish.

Let us continue to pray for each other!

Dear Father, We live on an Island in the West Indies. We have EWTN, thank God, which keeps us away from despair and hopelessness. Our little island is devoted to the Trinity. We are plagued within the last two years with drugs, murder, rapes and robbery. Sometimes it is too much. Your continued strength and faith throughout your accident and illness really lifted us up and gave us renewed hope. Please continue father to be healthy and happy and filled with so much love for others. Only God could allow you this beautiful grace. My dear friend Fr Benedict, your recovery is a sign of hope for us all. I want to pass on to you a gift of hope too. We have just had our fourth Rachel's Vineyard retreat in Magadan Russia. The healing and the grace is so tangible. Such deep wounds here for life was cheap and is cheap. I want to witness though to anyone who feels helpless about doing something to heal this wound in the hearts of all caused by abortion, find a Rachel's Vineyard retreat or begin one in your parish. The Lord wants to heal and then proclaim through these women His message of life. I feel so privileged to begin this beautiful work in Magadan.
