Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From Fr. Glenn Sudano

Wednesday August 25, 2004

You should have seen his smile when I told him, “it’s not simply a possibility, but a probability we’ll be opening a friary in Ireland some day” Today I interviewed a fine young Irishman who hopes to enter our community next month. Being from a close knit farm family, he’s experiencing no small culture shock taking his first bite out of the Big Rotten Apple. Despite the bitter taste, he’s firmly convinced this is where the Lord is calling him. His smile makes that quite clear!

All of you should be encouraged to know we hope to be receiving up to twelve candidates on September 8th. Interestingly enough, two are priests; one from the States, another from Poland. These men are serious about serving the Lord and joining the growing ranks of young men (and women) who have “given up all for All.

When a friend of the community called today and asked “how many friars are there?” I answered, 83 ½”. He laughed and said “What do you mean a half?” I replied, “That’s me, pray for me to keep giving the rest to God!”

Yes this is a work of God of which I am not worthy to be a part.
Yet God doesn’t so much make us “worthy” as a workable.
So pray for them; the young Irishman off the farm, the polish priest, and their classmates. Pray for these joining the ranks, and especially those at the head, That in the end, God will receive everything He both desires and deserves-100%. “All for All”.
After all, that’s what Christ did, and continues to do for each of us.

Until next time…

God bless you,

Fr. Glenn Sudano, CFR

Dear Fathers and Brothers, I took the liberty to copy the prayer that was composed when Father Benedict was hit by the car. I published it in our parish bulletin asking people to pray for him. Then I also published it inserting the name of a young women from the parish who was critically ill. Again asking for the parish to join in prayer for her recovery. Today a member of the parish told me that she had sent the prayer to California. Her nephew was in the hospital in a coma. He had been in the comma for several weeks. The family posted the prayer on the Doorpost of his room and asked that each person who entered the room recite the prayer. You guest it. He is now out the coma and recovering. I just stood there and laughed at the immense goodness of God. How he has used your prayer to open the eyes of so many all over the world. Alleluia. - Fr. Brian Jeffries, Connecticut

Dear Fr. Benedict and Fr. Glenn. How many blessings we all will receive through the grace of your sufferings. I can not wait to receive all your messages which will bring the tidings of the Most Holy Spirit. God bless you in Eternity. - Bea, Nevada

Father, I'm glad to hear that you are getting better and I'm sure that the other friars are glad that you are picking up more of the workload. :) Kidding. Yeah, Fr. Glenn mentioned that the website is possibly going to have daily reflections, quite possibly on the gospels. What I find very inspirational are stories about St. Francis and St. Padre Pio and the other franciscan stories that many are not familiar with. Please know that your example, all of you there, is so very important for all of us and you inspire us to do good in our daily lives. - Wesley, Pennsylv

Dear Fr. Benedict.- Thanks for introducing Fr. Glenn to us, we will breath and pray for both. Let us continue to pray for each other. - Yoya, Mexico

Dear Fr. Benedict, Prayers of thanks for your improved condition as well as for a successful and full rehabilitation. Will be looking forward to your weekly message. And to Father Glenn, Thank you for the continuation of messages especially utilizing daily scripture readings. From the first message dealing with Father Benedict's injury you and all friars and helpers have done a remarkable job. God bless Fr. Benedict and all the friars and may the Holy Spirit guide you in this new endeavor. My prayers will continue for the full recovery of Fr. Benedict and also for all the friars in what should be a welcome addition to the webb. - Edward, Rhode Island

Welcome Fr. Glenn! Happy to have you on board again! Carrier pidgins is fine with all of us I am sure - Marie, Maine
