Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,

From Fr. Glenn Sudano

Friday September 3, 2004

Dear Friends,

All of us have heard the saying, “As long as you have your health, you have everything”. No doubt, every adult would readily understand and accept the truth of this popular maxim. Yet, have we taken the time to wonder whether it’s true?

For the past thirty or so years, everyone is a lot more health conscious. My childhood memories are void of discussions about carbohydrates, cholesterol, and polyunsaturated fats. Tin cans and glass jars didn’t have consumer guides, charts, and graphs. I just remember I couldn’t have Bosco before dinner and Turkish taffee was bad for my teeth. Back then everyone enjoyed deep fried everything and the more butter the better.

In the Sixties, Eastern meditation, yoga, herbal teas and organic foods became vogue. This was followed by a decade of jogging, aerobics, and heart-pumping workouts. Thank God the fashion industry came to the rescue with sports wear and “gear”. How could one be seen in public or in the gym without a designer sweatsuit and matching headband?

Finally came an almost endless array of scientifically designed, tested, and approved home exercise equipment. Although smooth and sleek, some of these machines, if made of wood, could easily pass for medieval torture devices (and be twice as effective)! Who could have guessed that these mechanisms, through a process of transmutation, could within a matter of mere months, change into other objects: clothes hanger, dust collector, and abstract art for the basement.

We should be thankful for the many advances made in medicine in recent years and be mindful of our personal choices which not only affect the quality of our health, but possibly the length of our lives. Yet, in the Gospels, Christ speaks about another part of ourselves – our soul. This too can become weak and get sick if we make wrong choices. Yes, with physical health we have much, yet when we possess spiritual health, we have everything.

My dear Brothers I send to you many greetings and love from GREECE God Bless you Pax et Bonum - Fr. George, MSSB

Thank You: Fr. Benedict, you rock ! - T.J.W,

Thanks for the update. I trust Benedict is feeling much better. He is the human equivalent of the energizer bunny. Maybe someone should draw a picture of a bunny with Fr. Benedict's face on it. We will pray for him and his team. - Fr. Mike,

Thank you so much for publishing your daily Quicktime video. It's really been a blessing to me. - Amanda, Bradenton, Florida

Thank you holy priests. This is great news. I find the writing from you to be spiritually motivating, insightful and thought provoking. Fr. Benedict, we have all been praying for your recovery, and we all believed God had more work for you to do. Thanks be to God! - Ron,

Thank you so much for including me on the mailing list. I would love to receive the updates! - Many blessings! - Llinda,

Dear Franciscan Friars, especially Fr. Benedict and Fr. Sudano: Thank you for your second mail on August 23, 2004 message of Fr. Benedict's announcement. My family and I are pleased to look every day for your precious messages and believe me, when we read those e mails sent for other persons regarding your website, we agree with them since they express what is inside our hearts: THANK GOD YOU ARE HERE ON EARTH to make us awake and alert of God's messages. God Bless You all, and our prayers continue for Fr. Benedict to be completely healed from his accident! Your little videos are also very welcome! Congratulations to all people at all who make these possible. You are great! It is a pity that we can only watch the Spanish version of EWTN and we are not enjoying the new series of Fr. Benedict directly in English since we have to wait until they translate these into Spanish. Anyway, we will await with patience to that day when they are ready for us Latin American listeners and watchers. Sincerely in Christ and in our beloved Our Lady, - Bennett, ( Bill, Ily, Anthony) P.S We are in the Rep. of Panama

Send your greetings to Fr. Benedict
