This is a great time – Easter time! What really happened on that first Easter morning? Can we trust what we read in the Four Gospels? I would like to recommend two sources for insight about Easter. The first is a very scholarly work that examines the resurrection of Jesus in a solid and orthodox way, The Resurrection of the Son of God, by N.T. Wright. This is a great book – anti-scripture pseudo-scholars beware!
Secondly, I could not help but recommend the section on the resurrection in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (it is even online somewhere). Number 651 reads, “‘If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain’ (1 Cor 15:14). The resurrection above all constitutes the confirmation of all Christ’s works and teachings. All truths, even those most inaccessible to human reason, find their justification if Christ by His resurrection has given the definitive proof of His divine authority, which He had promised.”
Holding the truth of the Resurrection deeply in our hearts and minds through faith, we can trust, follow and build our lives on everything Jesus did and said – without fear, hesitation or conditions. He is God! Who else can make such demands upon our lives?
God bless you. Let us pray for each other.
