EWTN News
Perhaps you’ve been able to tune in and see our weekly program from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on EWTN. I was very glad to accept the invitation to give this weekly program, which is called Sunday Night Live. I really wanted them to call it Fr. Benedict Alive but they didn’t think that was too cheerful a title.
I get a large amount of e-mail as a result of these programs. It’s amazing – the emails come from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe as well as the United States. All kinds of people e-mail in and sometimes it’s a little disconcerting because they apparently don’t hear what you say on the program. They’ve explained to me at EWTN that some people start out with a fixed idea and they hear you say quite the opposite of what you actually do say on the program. Despite all of that, many people do say that EWTN has been a very positive part of their spiritual journey and often the opportunity for conversion. A surprising number of non-Catholic people enjoy EWTN as well.
One of the good things that happened to me as a result of my automobile encounter was that I was able to stay home and do the EWTN broadcasts. They’ve been after me for some time to do this; but I was always on the road finishing a weekend retreat someplace or another, and now as a result of the accident I have to stay home.
I hope and pray that you will have a chance to listen in to one of our programs, and if you know someone who you think it will be helpful to, suggest that they watch. Keep an eye open and you may get to recognize some of the friars and sisters who are in the audience.
