We continue the “Triumphant Stations of the Cross” which we began here yesterday and will conclude tomorrow for the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross:

Out steps gently a fair lady from the crowd
With quiet voice her actions speak so loud
Veronica’s compassion refreshes His face
For every age the true icon of grace
She danced with love the meaning of His Cross
I want to run, run and dance with His Cross.

A second time He descends to the earth
Re-echoing the humility of His birth
To follow His steps with joy we step down
Not grasping for heights nor pride’s foolish crown
But the prize for running faithful to the Cross
I want to run, run and dance with the Cross.

Always Gift speaks to the women weeping
Cry for yourselves and for your children sleeping
Tears of sorrow may become tears of joy
Hope is the key that you must employ
When you run into the mercy of the Cross
I want to run, run and dance with His Cross.

Once more the Saviour’s body hits the dust
His flesh is weak but His spirit filled with trust
To dance with His Cross we must look deep within
Swayed not by appearance nor depressed by sin
But we rise because He rose and raises us
So we can run, run and dance with His Cross.

The soldiers strip the Christ King of His clothes
His seamless garment bloodied by their blows
Mocking God, they cast lots for its use
While hidden glory transforms their abuse
Setting prisoners free with the poverty of His Cross
I want to run, run and dance with His Cross.

Ignorant humanity nails Him to those beams
Conquered by our sinfulness it seems
But wounded hands will show their might
When Thomas kneels down in faith at their sight
Blood’s power runs and streams forth from the Cross
I want to run, run and dance with the Cross.

(to be continued tomorrow)
