I recently celebrated the 15 year anniversary of my conversion. On October 20, 1990, I had a religious experience while attending a heavy metal concert. In a blinding flash of divine light, I knew that God exists, the devil exists, and that I had drifted away from God towards the devil. I found out later that my mother, fresh off of a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, had been praying for me. My life changed that providential night. That event began a trajectory towards my vocation as a priest and Franciscan.
Just by coincidence, to celebrate my anniversary this year, I was able to give my testimony on the largest heavy metal radio station on the east coast. As I walked down the hallway towards the dj booth, I noticed posters and plaques of all the old bands that I listened to before my conversion. It was like an eerie stroll down memory lane. Remembering where we came from gives glory to God. God alone could work such wonders. There is a renewed grace in giving your testimony. If you know His glory, tell the story. May Jesus Christ be praised, now and forever!
