I am happy to present a few photos, not only for the parents and friends of our postulants, but also for you, their friends in “cyber space” who are hopefully praying for them!
As some photos are worth a thousand words, some may be worth a million. As you see, our postulants are pictured in costume during and after a dress rehearsal for “the Transitus”, the annual commemoration of the “passing”, or death, of Saint Francis. This year’s Transitus was extra special thanks to new costumes made by Sister Miriam and some dear and talented friends of the friars.
Only a few photos are needed to see just how blessed we are in receiving these fine young men. This year’s class represents a variety of ages, cultures and professions - for example: a pharmacist, sound engineer, and Air Force navigational pilot. Together with the Sisters of the Renewal who have recently received ten wonderful young women, the friars are grateful to God for the gift of so many fine candidates.
Some of the young men who have joined the friars have not only come from across the States, but from across the ocean. They have come to New York lured by the life and example of Saint Francis who, as a young man, left his family and friends to follow Christ. Through that sacrifice he brought hope and new life to the Church and even the world. His is not an easy act to follow, but supported by our prayers, these young men will do the same, and indeed, perhaps even greater things!
