Dear friends of Fr. Benedict,
From
The Hospital #10
March 22, 2004
One of the beautiful experiences of my accident has been the dedication and helpfulness of close friends and confreres. I will never be able to adequately thank Brother Daniel and Brother Peter who have provided the services of full-time practical nurses. Father John Lynch and David Burns were not only faithful at the time of the accident - which they almost witnessed - but have stuck by me ever since. The wonderful staff at Orlando Regional Medical Center literally kept me alive by their dedication. Volunteers like John Delgado went to great personal sacrifice to care for the friars and other visitors who came to see me in Florida. The staff at the hospital here in New York also provided wonderful care and moved me along. I am now in a new facility and later on I will thank those who are presently helping me.
Generous benefactors have come to the aid of the friars and assisted with expenses not covered by insurance - and they still continue to help! Fr. Gene Fulton and the staff of Trinity have responded like family. I am ever grateful to all, literally tens of thousands of people, who took the trouble to send me a card or e-mail.
I guess the secret of why people have been so generous is to be found in the grace of God, in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and in charity, which as St. Paul says, "pushes us on". God reward you all!
Let us continue to pray for each other!
Father Benedict

Dear Fr. Benedict - I have been checking this website on and off, since your accident and you are in my prayers. This morning, as I sat at my work desk, feeling low and sorry for myself the Holy Spirit inspired me to check in on you via the web. It brought my heart to tears as you re-iterate what Our Lord tells us always, that there is only peace in doing His will - and you are a living example of this. I have so much to be thankful for - thank you for your note today.- Karen, Clifton, Virginia
Father Benedict, I am so happy that you are doing better. I have prayed for you and checked this website almost every day for news on your condition. It is indeed a miracle that you are with us and I'm certain much good will come from this suffering that you are enduring. Please know that we are suffering along with you. God be with you! - Mark,Slaton, Texas
The power of this website is not only the miracle of Fr. Benedict's continuing recovery but the love poured out in all these wonderful e-mails. When I read them I think that this must be a small taste of heaven. Like Father says...lets continue to care and pray for each other. - Pat, Royal Oak, Missiouri
Dear Fr. Benedict, My prayers continue to be with you. Your injuries parallel what my mother had gone through with her auto accident. Both of my parents were faithful followers of yours on EWTN. You had called my uncle a few months before his death to offer words of comfort and prayer. You really made his day!! You have continued to touch many lives as you struggle with this ordeal, but you can be sure that God is using you for the salvation of many souls. I know the long road ahead with rehab, etc... but I also know that you will use this as further opportunity to serve our loving God. - Maureen, Colorado Springs, Colorado
Fr. Benedict: Thank God for your recovery. This web site is so nice because we can, at any time, check on you. Smile. Thank God for your suffering as you offer it up with the suffering of Jesus on the cross. You will be saving many souls. I see that Jesus does not need your presence with Him in heaven and I am grateful for that. I wish you well and promise to continue to pray for you and your friars and sisters. The work all of you do in the South Bronx is wonderful. And thanks to Father Glenn for this informative web site. I have anonymously been praying for your order since I met Fr. Stan, here in Florida last year. I will move back home to New York this year. Thanks for this opportunity. Sincerely. - Sandi, Hollywood, Florida
Hi Fr. B. Thanks for the daily messages - it means a lot to me hearing your words of wisdom. Today, 3/19/04, your struggle seemed more apparant than usual. How hard for someone as active as you are to have to work back through these physical handicaps. Once our Bishop published a letter speaking to the difficulty he had during an illness and how hard he found it to pray during that time. I just wanted to say that I hope you will try and rest in the prayers so many of us are offering up for you. It is such a privilege to feel that I can do a small service for you who can touch the hearts of so many others. Please allow us to carry you for awhile. - Christine, Laguna Niguel, California
Dear Father Benedict, So glad to hear you continue to make steady progress. Our sons, Benedict Xavier (named after you and baptised by you) and Augustin Pio, continue to pray for your healing. Benedict especially says a quick prayer whenever we hear a siren that may be going to the scene of a car accident. We hope to meet again one day when you are able to resume your inspired preaching. God bless you and keep you! - Sarah, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Dear Fr. Benedict-I just read #8 from the hospital-Do you have any idea how many people you are reaching through your accident and healing? We check each day to see how you are doing and along with the progress report we get a daily "fix" of your apostolic words. Always remember that if you are in need of hope. Your dear friends St. Bernadette and St. Therese are smiling down on you and your work which didn't stop even when you were "sleeping". God continue to bless you in your recovery..-Elizabeth, Derry, New Hampshire
Dear Fr. Groeschel. My family has benefitted from your many books, audio tapes and programs on EWTN.You are a family favorite. I am a convert (my husband and son are life-long Catholics). Your insight and teaching has been an invaluable tool during my journey. I'm so glad you're still teaching us...I have much to learn...especially about suffering...why is it necessary..there's so much pain in this world. I'm happy your getting better, and as always you'll be in my prayers...and as always just one of the things I can thank God for is your ministry. - Karen, Grosse Pointe Farms, Missziouri
We pray for your continued protection, guidance & good health. You have touched a lot of lives & hope that we may also emulate the light of Christ in you. God bless! - Rene, Phillippines
