As we are well into the Easter season, I have a question that each of us can ask ourselves: How is my Easter joy?
Has it faded in the midst of my daily tasks, been eclipsed by busyness, or obscured by sorrow?
We Christians know this for certain: Christ is risen. He has conquered sin and death and brought us to new life with Him in baptism. This new life does not end with death, and we look with hope toward our union with God in heaven.
Christ is risen. This reality should permeate and shape our everyday lives, bringing us a deep joy even when we do not feel joyful, a joy that shines forth in even the most difficult situations.
Christ is risen. He is with us, as we know and experience in the Holy Eucharist. He is with us on our earthly journey, in all of life’s ups and downs.
Christ is risen. Let us re-joice, that is, again find joy in this great truth.
