Dear Father Glenn, Lord, have mercy. I have to tell you that tears are rolling down my cheeks right now, and the screen is beginning to blur. As I read your letter this morning, I vividly remembered a time when I made a very painful confession. I had to truly trust that Jesus was there and waiting to forgive me, and it really took a great deal of courage. It wasn't because I had been away from the sacraments but it was just due to the devastation I was feeling in the situation. I went to St. Stephen's in NYC, and was taken with it's holiness on that Friday evening. What you reminded me of was how wonderfully concerned the priest was for me, the gentleness with which he heard my confession, and the reassurance he gave me that Jesus loved me very much and that I was not alone. It is now twenty-two years later. Since that time, I have experienced many good confessions, and I go as often as I can. I cherish the sacrament as a true communication with our Lord, and when I feel reconciled with Him, I feel reconciled with the world. You touched my heart, Father Glenn. Thank you for saying ,"Yes," to The Call. I continue to pray for Father Benedict's health, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, and for you and the Friars and Sisters. May God bless and keep you.
Father Benedict, We,(my husband and I) were so happy to hear about and see our new Holy Father. Our Church is so blessed and God continues to shower His blessings on the world and on His Church. After watching the funeral and installation of our new Pope I felt like I was in the midst of the Holy Spirit's outpourings. We watch you every Sunday night but did not see you the last two Sundays because we were in New Orleans. So we did not get to hear your comments about the new Pope. But we did get to hear a wonderful homily at St. Louis Cathedral about our new Pope. My husband and I both thought the priest spoke like you (minus the NY accent) straight forward and blunt. God Bless you and keep up your health!!
Dear Fr Glenn, It was so appropriate the need to understand
what confession as a Sacrament is all about..... So few of us use the things
available to us whether out of fear or disinterest... It is a shame that we
do not take advantage of this beautiful chance to meet our God and feel his
forgiveness through the priest..... That is the most precious gift that you
all have and we as human beings need to feel and if necessary see that we
are forgiven... Forgiveness is the greatest virtue and we all need to use
this to our greatest extent. Thank you Father for your insight and reminder....
Father Benedict, Thank you for the article you wrote about our new Pope Benedict XVI. I enjoyed reading it,and passed it on to all of my friends.Your article helped make the Pope seem some how closer. (Then just some one in authority, in a far distant country someplace.)It also sparked interest in a friend of mine who now wants to know more about the Pope.We have a lot to be thank full for in our new Pope.God Bless you and the friars and the fruits of your ministry.
