Dear Fr. Benedict, Sometimes Mel Gibson's "The Passion"
is compared to another film he made called "Braveheart". I think that's
one of the reasons for its universal appeal. Even if you do not accept the fact
that Jesus is God, at least you can admire a man who was willing to give his
last drop of blood for what he believed in. I hope your new call-in program
on EWTN brings many people closer to God.
Sincerely, - Dennis
Dear Father Benedict, Dear brothers and sisters in Christ in the U.S.A. and abroad, all glory and thanks to our heavenly Father, His beloved son our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for the gift and the grace of our Catholic belief, for the renewal of the holy Church unseen but there, our love goes also to our beloved mother Mary for her so precious visits to her children in this time of grace. Let us continue to pray for each other: pray also for holy priests, vocations to the religious life and for our families. Pray, pray, pray for the Church in Belgium and Europe which has lost for majority his faith because. Christus regnant, Christus vincit, Christus imperat!!! - Henri, Belgium
Thank you Father Glenn for another wonderful message. I have bad knees and I try to offer this pain to Jesus for His sufferings and the sins of the world. Also save souls! Yesterday at Mass, our priest said, "do you ever see where God is working away from here?" I immediately thought of a particular fellowship of AA where I belong. This is truly where one sees God working His miracles. Last night I celebrated 18 years of continuous sobriety at an AA fellowship. A young man was there who has been sober for three weeks. He has been drunk on the streets for 11 years, but began coming into the rooms of AA for about a month. Here he was accepted and just allowed to sit and listen. No one knew whether or not he heard anything. Three weeks ago he came to one of the members and told him, "I'm tired". They took him to detox, and after a stay there, he is living in a halfway house. This young man is truly a sign that we must NEVER give up hope I spoke to him and told him I was going to pray for him. Perhaps no one has ever told him this before. He was the "suffering Christ in disguise".. My prayers are for his perseverance. God Bless You. I felt the need to share this with you. Your friend, - Judy,
I was having coffee in the "bistro" of a supermarket in Menlo Park, California, and pulled out your book, Arise from Darkness, for a little morning read. The waitress passed by and said, "Oh, that's a pretty picture on the cover. I'm getting a little interested in religion." What could I do but gladly to hand her the book and wish her well? She wasn't in next time I went there so who knows the rest of the story, but it reminds me to pray for people seeking God. And to thank Him for people like you who spread his word so well. Meanwhile, I'm off to buy another copy of that book. - Kathleen,
