Grazie for your interesting description of the color (and colorful) history of Franciscan habits! My first catechism teacher was an Italian Franciscan in Greece -- Padre Luigi. Years later I toured Assisi while spending an academic year in Italy. I had often wondered why the Bronx friars wear "grigio" -- now I know! Thanks again!

Dear Fr. Glenn, Fr. Benedict, Fr. Stan, and all the members of CFR, as the South braces for Hurricane Rita, I marvel at the rays of hope that your e-letters bring through the internet. I find it amazing that you share the moving stories of faith and hope from Hurricane Katrina, which we rarely saw in the secular media. When our country was faced with the biggest natural disaster, our media was still afraid to mention God--how sad! Thank God for all of you--as Pope John Paul II the Great said, "Be not afraid to share the Good News!" All of you do this in glowing ways--and in your wonderful habits. I remember seeing you in Toronto at WYD 2002 and a big smile came upon our group's faces because we knew all of you were with the CFR's and were thrilled. Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing. Our world needs more light in this time of darkness. You are all such a great blessing. I have a feeling that this morning you will be swamped with first responders to Miss Lucy, who could be our nation’s Poet Laureate. What a beautiful lady. Thank you, Father Terry.

 

The story about Ms. Lucy was very uplifting. I don't read forwards much but felt led to read this one. Thanks for sharing. And I thank you all for being God's hands and feet to these refugees. I have been to many Y2000 and support you all in prayer as well as financially in your mission God has called you to.
