Dear Father Glenn and Father Terry,
Thanks to all the friars who went down to Louisiana to lend their support
and prayers. Thank-you also for sharing Miss Lucy's poem "Watchin' the Water
Rise." It is a very beautiful and powerful poem about her deep faith and
trust in the Lord. My heart hurt reading about how her Bible floated away.
Somehow, throughout all the obstacles she was facing, she still continued to
pray...How fitting are her words asking the Lord to "Raise me up!" He did
raise her up just in time to be rescued by her grandsons. The words of this
poem were most inspiring. May we all remember to pray as Miss Lucy did, so
the Lord can raise us up one day to be with Him. God bless you all!

FATHER GLENN YOU'RE THE MAN! The Holy Spirit has inspired you today! Thank you for giving me inspiration today through the power of God!
God Bless you and all the Friars,
Stephen
Dear Father Glenn, I enjoyed reading your article and poem on Miss Lucy. One thing you were very right about our media and that anything that comes good out of bad they never talk about. and this story about Miss Lucy and the Frairs should have been front page news , but when we do something wrong it always hits the front page. May you and your Frairs be blessed by God for all the good work you do.

Dear Fr. Glenn,
I enjoyed your letter today about Lucy. Americans have always been a generous people, but I think the pain and suffering caused by Katrina may have helped us see the poor in a new light. Perhaps we just needed to be reminded that it's not un-American to be poor.
May God give strength and protect all those threatened by this new hurricane.
Dennis, Oaklyn, NJ.
Dear Friars:
...My husband and I, through the grace of God, physically survived Katrina and we are so GRATEFUL to Almighty God. We are presently in Austin, Texas because our home of 28 years had 15 feet of water (over rooftop). We lost all material possessions, but more importantly, there are people that we will never see again.
It has been 3 weeks and I am just now starting to come out of this "fog." Our lives are forever changed...we are different people--we live more simple and more humble lives now. God does bring good out of terrible situations.
Initially, I couldn't pray very well because I was "stunned" and now just seem to be hanging on to the end of Jesus' garment.
I'm not a novice to suffering (death of loved ones and serious illness), but it has taken a different form now. We have crawled upon the cross with Our Lord, which cross is being held up by the Father and sanctified by His Spirit. We too have been stripped and look on this as a time to offer reparation for our sins and the sins of all mankind.
My husband and I want to publicly THANK Almighty God for His LOVE, MERCY, FORGIVENESS AND PROTECTION and for the family that we do have.
These words keep ringing my head:
TAKE WHAT HE GIVES AND
GIVE WHAT HE TAKES (WITH A SMILE).
With a grateful heart to a loving God, I am
Linda W.
