Dear Fr. Luke - I very much enjoyed your meditation of Oct.13 on the mercy of God (scripture readings of today's Mass). It really is frightening to think that there are probably many Catholics as well as other Christians who feel just like the young man you mentioned. As a matter of fact, I was one of them not so long ago; but thanks to the awesome mercy of our God, I was able to "shape up" and realize that only in changing and growing in my faith and struggling to overcome my sinfulness, could I ever hope to be found worthy to enter Heaven. I know from personal experience that 'sitting on the fence' does make life much simpler, but nothing compares to the peace and joy God gives us if we but make the effort to follow Him. We must pray very hard for that young man and all others like him, that God will shower His mercy on them and that their spiritual eyes will be opened to TRUTH. Let us all pray for each other, that we will continue to fight the good fight! Your sister in Christ, - Michelle, SFO, Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Dear Father Benedict, brothers and sisters, GLORY BE TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. I want to thank you and every one for you faith and your prayers and for the "from the friars". Let us THANK GOD every day, every minute for the miracles He does in the holy Church, in his faithfully old and young. CHRISTUS VINCIT, CHRISTUS REGNAT, CHRISTUS IMPERAT - Henri, (Belgium)
That was an excellent letter and did my heart good. I am also a convert and feel a strong kinship to other converts. I believe that young people are pretty much the same mix they have always been. A few devout, a few wishy washy and some still finding their way. Unfortunately they are usually the quiet ones. The ones that make the most noise are usually the bad seeds, angry kids and arrogant kids. To quote our Liturgy "As it was in the beginning, is now and always shall be."
I check the CFR page every day, I wouldn't miss it. I get something new each day no matter who has taken the time to enlighten and encourage us. And I also get a lot from reading the e-mails! - Anne,
