What a wonderful thought about accepting whatever God sends for us to do/suffer! I will share it with a devout Protestant friend who has just been challenged with a serious type of arthritis - very devastating, as she has always been active in her church, sewing for her family, playing golf, traveling with her spouse, etc. God Bless You Father!, - Dolores, Iowa
Dear Fr. Herald, Dear Friars, Praise the Lord! Watching last night TV news, I learned about yesterday’s earthquake in Japan. And for the first time, a major French TV channel (France2) said: among the catastrophies of the earthquake, there was also a driving train knocked out of his tracks (we could see the big long train and wagons standing straight all along on the road and not on the tracks) and the whole train was safe, this is a miracle. On a French laicity major TV channel, she repeated twice the word miracle! Thank you Lord for your Mercy. As far as she said that Japan after this earthquake was expecting shortly that an even much stronger earthquake might happen very shortly, would you continue to pray Our Lady with me? Thank you very much for your help. This morning, I was writing something outside on the porche on a windy day but not tremendously windy. When I heard a sudden huge noise. It was the statue (heavy because made of plain stone for outdoors) of St Joseph holding tenderly and protectively Our small child Jesus in his arms, who had been thrown on the wooden floor of the front porch. Luckily, it did not break, but as far as St Joseph is the “Boss of Belgium” and the protector of the “Belgian families”, would you mind praying also? (it is the first time since 3 years of having this outdoors statue that it felt down on the floor) Thank you so much for your prayers. Have a good day in the Lord. - Anne,
Fr. Benedict, We watched your new program with intense interest, and once again, you were clear, concise with a touch of humor. May God continue to bless you as you teach and instruct the faithful and not so faithful in steering a course the the minefields of the next few weeks. Faithfully yours, - Al & Joy,
Dear Father Benedict, Just like another web family member, I couldn't wait
for your show to air Sunday. It felt like Christmas. It's amazing that nine
months ago you were living a nightmare. Personally, I think it was a miracle.
I read something beautiful recently by St. Augustine. He describes a miracle
as "something difficult, which seldom occurs, surpassing the faculty of
nature, and going so far beyond our hopes as to compel our astonishment. We
marvel at miracles, not so much because of their wonder but because of their
infrequency. It is a wondrous thing that seed brings forth the harvest of wheat
to feed all mankind; but it happens year after year. On the other hand, it is
rare indeed that five five thousand are fed with a few loaves and fishes. It
is not that we should wonder less at the miraculous, but that we should come
awake to the marvel of the ordinary, and wonder most of all at the Lord of the
universe and the flashes of HIS omnipotence that gives us,with the same ease,
both the miraculous and the prosaic." Welcome back, always in my prayers,
- Gloria, Huntington Beach Ca.
