Dear Father Roemer,
Thanks for your Dec. 11 note about eternity. I've been rushing a bit and feeling as if I'm behind in holiday preparation. Yes, the Advent wreath and calendar are in place, but the presents are not ready and the stores are starting to get crowded. For me, a crowded store equals penance. I've been scolding myself for not getting ready earlier. But now, thanks to your note, I will take a deep breath and brave shopping with three things in mind: our budget (can't get away from that!), gratitude that I am able to give this year, and eternity. Thank you for the just-in-time reminder to consider what's truly important and to search for gifts that reflect that which is forever. --
