Christmas, 2007

“Be not afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

To my dear friends and family,

Merry Christmas! Christ is born!

If we are honest with ourselves, inside our hearts are the desires for beauty, truth, love and happiness. Yet where will we go to experience the fulfillment we naturally seek? God has placed these desires in us so as to draw us to Him knowing that we could only find complete fulfillment in Him.

Christmas morning reveals to us that the answer is God himself, not a concept, idea, trend, or popular opinion. Jesus is the answer and He comes to us as a little baby to live among us and walk with us as a friend.

Because of Jesus, tomorrow is filled with hope. Because of Jesus we can be assured that today, despite how crazy and hectic our life might appear, God is with us and waiting for us to call upon Him. Because of Jesus, even the gravest mistakes of yesterday can be forgiven.

This Christmas let us give ourselves more fully to Him, since He has held nothing back from us, how could we hold anything from Him and not abandon ourselves to such a loving and humble God?

With much love and prayers this Christmas,

Br. Jeremiah Myriam Shryock CFR
