Dear Friends,

May the Lord give you His peace!

Occasionally, “From the Friars” takes a bit of a “station break” to offer you, our faithful friends and readers, some information rather than inspiration.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to so many of you who offered prayers and encouragement for my mother, Margaret. Some may remember that last January she was diagnosed with cancer in the lung. I wrote a reflection about this to which many of you responded with promises of prayer and personal expressions of support. In fact, just recently we received an e-mail from Scotland inquiring about her condition!

Well, we give praise to God as her operation and therapy were quite successful. At this point, there is no trace of cancer! She received excellent medical attention and care at Centennial Hospital located in Nashville, Tennessee. My mom is presently living at my brother’s home in Nashville and slowly getting her strength back. When God gives the green light, she hopes to return to her house in New Jersey.

My mother asked me more than once to express to you her heartfelt thanks. After her operation and therapy, when she received the good news of her test results, she exclaimed, “ Jesus healed me—thank you, Jesus!” She also attests that her fears and anxieties melted away as she approached the day of her operation: “a miracle of God’s grace through prayer.” So, friends, from me and my mom, we say “thank you” for your prayerful intercession and thoughtful expressions of encouragement. Let us continue to pray and support one another, so that none of us will face the unexpected and sudden storms in life alone and unaided.

Fr. Glenn Sudano, CFR
