Dear Br. Philip,
I met a man on the train a few weeks ago. As we talked, he shared that he was going through some very difficult times. He had lost both his parents and his fiancee in the last 18 months, and was currently undergoing treatment for brain tumors. I told him I would offer my prayers for him. The next morning I offered my Communion for his needs. I asked the Lord to give that man any grace or benefit I might have received from the Communion. It was a spontaneous thing. Reading your reflection has reminded me of that day. . .
Thank you for the great and Holy work you and your fellow friars and sisters do. I lift you up to the Lord and pray for continued blessings upon you all.
God Bless,
-- Gia
Dear Br. Philip -
Thank you so much for your inspiring reflection on
the
infinite merit of one holy communion. If only all Catholics realized
the
saving power of Christ's gift of Himself to us in this awesome
sacrament.
In offering us His very body, blood, soul and divinity, He offers us
everything! Nothing else is necessary. Reflecting on this truth and
realizing how so many of our fellow Catholics, including so many family
members, don't "get it", should be enough to convince us all to do all
we
can to share this wonderful "good news" with everyone we meet. Our
first
priority though is to pray and pray hard, for this is the best and most
powerful way to touch hearts, for as we all know we can't convert
anyone -
only the Holy Spirit can. Let us all use the most powerful instrument
we
have at our disposal - the Holy Rosary, asking Our Blessed Mother to
intercede for all of her children that her Spouse send His holy fire on
us
to melt and mold all of our hearts into the likeness of her beloved Son
Our
Lord Jesus Christ!!
Thank you again, Br. Philip and all of the Friars
and
Sisters of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. You are such a
blessing to
all of us. May God continue to richly bless you.
Your sister in
Christ,
Michelle, SFO, Windsor, Canada
