July 2006

May the Lord give you His peace!

Last time I wrote about a method of prayerfully reading the Bible called Lectio Divina - Divine Reading. This month I would like to mention that we are praying for all of you. The summer can be a very busy time around the friary (and elsewhere as you can see from my time away this month). We are expecting around 15 men to join us as Postulants this September. Please pray for all those who are preparing to enter seminaries and/or communities. The fear of commitment and attacks from you know who can make it hard to stay the course.

I will be away on the following dates during July:
  • 12-13 Street evangelization in Times Square with the Emmanuel Community (info).
  • 14-16 Youth 2000 Retreat New York, Major Event.
  • 17-24 Home visit in Indiana with family (two new nieces to Baptize!)
  • 28-29 Christendom College (Summer Institute) - then to
Franciscan Univ. of Steubenville (Defending the Faith Conference) with Fr. Benedict Groeschel.

Check it out...

great talk to the U.S. Bishops on the new translation of the liturgy (6/15/06), found here.

We are praying for you and your discernment everyday, especially on Wednesdays. Let us set our hands to the plow in the Lord's vineyard and not look back! "The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor" (1 Cor 3:8).

God bless you,
